What you'll learn

  • Selecting an item serial and claim type
  • Adding claim elements (labor, items, subcontractor/other)
  • Attaching files and submitting or saving a draft

Before you start

  • Go to Services and open the Claims tab (it opens by default). You need permission to manage claims to see the create controls.

Steps

  1. Click Submit New Claim at the top right (on an empty list, click Create Claim instead). The Claim Submission window opens.

  2. Under Details, next to the item serial click Change, search in the Item Serial Selection window, and click Select to pick the vehicle serial.

  3. Choose a Claim Type from the dropdown (it appears once a serial is selected). For a warranty-based type, confirm the Warranty and set the Date of issue.

  4. Set the Date of repair.

  5. If a Required Information step appears, fill in every field it lists.

  6. Under Claim Elements, click Add Claim Element, then pick a Type:

    • Labor Code — select a Work Code and enter the Duration (hours).
    • Item — select the Item, then set Quantity and Unit Price (check Incident item if prompted).
    • Subcontractor/Other — enter the Amount.

Add Details and/or a Proof file wherever an element requires them, and repeat for each element.

  7. Under Additional Details, add Comments and upload any Files and Photos.

  8. Read the Legal Notice.

  9. Click Save Draft to finish later, or Submit Claim to send it for approval.

Good to know

  • Before you can submit, you must pick an item serial ("You must pick an item serial.") and a claim type ("You must pick a claim type."); warranty-based types also require the Date of issue.
  • The Date of repair cannot be before the Date of issue and cannot be in the future.
  • Add Claim Element stays disabled until an item serial is selected ("You must first select an item serial.").
  • Depending on the claim type, some elements require a file ("You must attach a file.") or details, one element may have to be flagged as the incident item, and a work code may be required.
  • Submitting confirms "The claim was successfully submitted."; saving a draft confirms "The claim was saved successfully."
